In-School Forms Tournament Registration
Each spring marks the exciting occasion of our in-school tournament. This event provides our students with the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete in various categories such as weapons, forms, and sparring. Participants can opt to compete in a single category or challenge themselves across all three.
We welcome students of all ranks and ages to join us in this spirited competition. To ensure a level playing field, divisions are thoughtfully organized based on age, rank, and gender. This structure guarantees that contestants will face off against opponents of similar skill levels, leading to fair and engaging matches.
Join us on Saturday, June 7th as we come together for a day of friendly competition, camaraderie, and celebration of everyone’s hard work. Families are invited to join us and witness the upcoming event. Multiple rings will be operating simultaneously to ensure the event progresses efficiently. Every division offers participants the opportunity to secure 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place medals. Additionally, those who do not place are rewarded with a lollipop as a token of participation.

Arrival to the dojo at 8:00am where they will be greeted by our instructors and/or teen leaders to be taken up to the loft area or main floor to practice/calm nerves. Following arrival, we will be having announcements to everyone at 8:30am(general idea of how the day will run, etc). Children will start to go to staging up in the loft a their divisions start so we can know who is going to be up next. Kids will then be taken downstairs when their division is up.

Forms are judged based on a number of different categories that our expert instructors are thoroughly trained in. For example, points are given based on confidence, stances, accuracy, and intent. So even if someone doesn't do their form correct, but continues and tries their best, they still can get points.

Sparring is judged based on which competitor gets to 5 points first, with a 2 minute time limit. We have by-charts randomly generated beforehand that instructors are given to pair up the competitors fairly. Center judges call out points, stop the match, then confide in side judges to see who gets the point.

We have spare sparring gear for those who need it. However, if you/your child have been training a while, we strongly encourage looking into getting some. If you are interested, feel free to reach out!
